headphonesweat, the debut album of burstinxen is a project of self-made man robert bockting.
robert is active since 1983 as bass player and singer songwriter.
The songs on headphonesweat are influenced by music styles such as
70-ties punk bands the saints, sex pistols, dead boys and the damned. 80-ties punk from dead kennedys, GBH and scream, iggy and the stooges, but also XTC, killing joke, nick cave and the bad seeds, lou reed, john cale, and the cure.
tracks such as “not easy”, “autistic skills” and “everybody’s doing so perfect in this world”, are about people who in some ways not really fit in society.
“say yeah!” seems just fun rock n roll, but beware, the bottle is never far away.
“ the warriors wore fake leather vests” is about Robert’s youth and his adventures and friendships, while “my first band” is a’ tribute to his first punk band “the wax-pontiffs”
title track “headphonesweat” is more pop oriented, and tells about the struggle song writing can be.
headphonesweat ends with “tv-junkie”. this song with a’ certain
echo of the 80ties may show what we can expect from burstinxen in the future.
